Is it possible to get a lump sum from a divorce?

It is possible but not advised, as you could go back if your spouse makes more money at a later date and get more child support money based on the economy and how much money your soon to be ex is earning per year as comapred to what he or she is earning now.

Yes, it is possible to get a lump sum from a divorce. The settlement depends on the state you live in, what you and your spouse agree to in a settlement, or if you cannot come to agreement, what each of your lawyers work out and whatever the courts will approve.

Normally in a divorce your are granted child support and sometimes alimony. The judge will not normally grant a lump sum for these unless both parties agree to do a lump sum. However you can be granted a lump sum for property that your spouse owes you for.

Yes, the lump sum can be obtained for a divorce than to have monthly or deferred payments but this is possible only with the mutual consent of both the concerned parties.
