So long as your handwriting is legible, it is perfectly acceptable to fill out an application by hand. In fact, many people will get an application and fill it out on the spot. Use typed if you are going for a big job (government or something) or have bad handwriting.

You can generally use handwriting to fill out an application, as long as you have good penmanship. Make sure to use only blue or black ink.

It depends on what type of application it is. Many job applications are given to you at your interview so your only choice is to hand write it. If they want you to send it in before, type it. it is neater and looks more professional.
