Yes it is okay to wait up to 48 hours before going to get a tetanus shot or to see if you need to get one. If you have had one within the past 5 years it might not be necessary especially since most people get them every ten years

The bacteria that causes tetanus replicates after it enters the host through a wound so it is not advisable to wait before getting a tetanus shot.
