Is it normal to have spinal fluid leak with a c-section?

During my C-section I had a spinal fluid link and am concerned that the doctor did something wrong.

The spinal fluid leak would actually happen when you get the epidural nerve block. A minor leak isn't a big deal but it will give you a painful headache.

I am not a OB-Gyn, but I cannot understand why you would have spinal fluid leaking from a c-section. This would be definately something that needs to be examined quickly.

No, it is definitely not normal and should not have happened. Please get a second and accurate assessment from another physician.

With any procedures that use spinal anesthesia, there is a risk of leakage of spinal fluid. Most C-sections use spinal anesthesia so a leak is a risk. A leak does not indicate a mistake was made by the physician. The leak usually leads to a severe headache. The leaks are repaired by a procedure called a blood patch.
