Yes - in fact, chicken pox typically presents far more severely in an adult than in a child. The Varicella zoster virus (the virus responsible for causing chicken pox) is not deterred by an older individual's systems and the damage that it causes is generally worse due to the affects of aging.

It is possible for an adult to get chicken pox if they never had them as a child, or if they did not have the chicken pox vaccine. If the adult did have chicken pox as a child, it can flare up as an adult into a disease called shingles, which always appears in one nerve line.

Absolutly, if they have not been exposed as a child. Getting them as an adult is very dangerous. If this is being considered or is a concern get to a doctor right away. Get it checked, do not wait for it to progress.

An adult can get chicken pox. However, it is commonly known to be a childhood illness and it is actually ideal that a peerson gets it as a child because the older a person is when they get the chicken pox, the more servere it is likely to be.
