Pain and discomfort is common several days after a root canal and is tolerable with the use of ibuprofen. Contact your dentist for unbearable pain that will not subside.

Pain levels depend on how deep the root was, how skilled your dentist is, and your body. If it is recent or unbearable, go back to your dentist.

You might have something called a air pocket. It is an accumulation of blood that needs to be attended to by the person that did the root canal.
