False advertisement is illegal and can be sued for unfair business practices. However, how wood products are defined and sold depends on your local state laws.

No, if the store advertised the product as hardwood that is what they have to sell you. If you later discovered that the floor was a laminate that would be considered false advertisment.

It is not legal to advertise that a product is one thing that simply looks like another. Call the local television reporter who investigates consumer problems.

There really isn't much you can do to get money out of them or anything. You can however go to the Better Business Bureau and report them.

The problem is terminology. There are laminate floors, hardwood floors and even laminate hardwood floors. Probably if you go back and look at the flooring description, you will find your answer. Traditionally hardwood is thought of to be simply the wood, but now with many choices it is more complicated to make sure that you get what you meant to.

Different states has their own restrictions in posting of advertisements, this should be inquired first before you post your own advertisements.
