Is it legal for an insurance company to inquire about your wages when you are injured in an accident?

I don't see why it is any of their business.

It is their business, because when you are involved as a claimant, and have missed time off work; those lost wages are payable to you. They will need to know this information to ascertain how much they will need to pay you.

It is legal. Furthermore, if you desire a reasonable settlement offer, it is in your best interests to cooperate with any requests of information from the insurer. Even if you get an attorney, who will take from 30-40% of any settlement, the insurance company will still get your wage documentation.

Yes it is legal. When you are in an accident you may miss time off of work which in some cases may be payable to you. They will need to know this information in order to determine how much they will need to pay you while you are off of work.
