You might first try resealing the joint. You can buy a polymer sealant at your local home improvement store that is designed to do this.

Its not too hard. Remove the old pieces of concrete, partition off the area. Pour and smooth, allow to try. Pretty simple stuff.

Yes, it is very difficult to replace a concrete sidewalk expansion joint, as mostly you had to take care of this thing and you have to do a proper side walk also.
