Having pain that long after any surgery could likely mean that a nerve was nicked or something else happened during the surgery to cause nerve damage. Most likely nerve damage will eventually heal, but it may take years and isn't always a guarantee. Consult with a DIFFERENT oral surgeon.

Yes, this is bad. You need to see a dentist, perhaps even one other than the one who did the root canal. The pain can indicate an infection or bone damage.
