Is it bad to be constantly cracking joints?

My husband has this habit.

While there is no evidence that constantly cracking joints is bad some professionals believe it hurts the cartilage between the joints leading to arthritis.

It used to be said that cracking your knuckles would lead to arthritis, but it's been proven that just isn't the case. The crack comes from the release of air and gas between the joints.

Cracking your joints is not necessarily a bad habit, unless the joints become swollen or the cracking is accompanied by pain.

yes. constantly cracking your knuckles causes the cartilage in the joints to swell. it may not be obvious right now, but in the later years your husbands joints will be all knobby and swollen and he will possibly have bad rheumatoid arthritis. its best to try to get him to stop now.
