Most inks used today do contain potentially harmful chemicals, like heavy metals and volatile organic compounds. One would have to consume or inhale a significant amount to be in any real danger, but skin irritation is a common problem. Please note that natural inks are potentially dangerous as well.

Yes - but in the end, everything is made out of chemicals. Chemicals are the basic building blocks for everything, from rabbits to ink to carrots. The chemicals ink is made out of vary depending on the manufacturer, but they include pigments and dyes to give it color, and various thickeners and lubricants as well.

Yeah all ink is made out of chemicals and that is why it is dangerous to even write on your skin. Many kids write on their skin and they don't realize that the ink can absorb into the skin and this can be made into poison into the skin as well.

Ink is pigment plus a binding agent. Modern day ink also contains chemical ingredients to improve the appearance of the ink, its flow and its texture.
