If a rib was removed, would it grow back?
Answer by malone (4817)
Ribs do not "regenerate."
Answer by AFF (45)
No, if a rib was removed, it would not grow back. Bones can heal if they are broken, but they cannot regenerate.

Full ribs do not grow back. Bones in the body often form calluses to bridge the gap of fractures when bones are broken, but the body cannot generate another rib when one is removed.

Omg! Ribs DO regenerate!! But when they are removed you have to leave the special membrane in order for it to re-grow!!

Yes they do! But you have to leave the special membrane still intact for it to re-grow. add a comment
