Floucinonide is a potent topical corticosteroid with anti-inflammatory effects. It will be useful for the skin manifestations of SLE and will decrease itching, redness and scaling of skin. Adverse effects are similar to any steroidal drugs due to systemic absorption causing suppression of the hypothalamo-pituitary axis but it may be used safely in appropriate doses in SLE.

Flouocinide is a type of corticosteroid used to treat discoid lupus. It is more effective that hydrocortisone. It may however be used in conjuction with hydrocortisone.
