Is borex acid mix a good ant bait?

Answer by  owlie (231)

Boric acid does kill ants, but you must mix it with something sweet (maple syrup, sugar, etc.) to create a bait. Use a cap or lid to hold the mixture.

You mean "boric" acid, I'm sure. We mix it with white powdered sugar and put a spoonful in the corners of the cabinets under the sink where they like to get and inside the pantry. The ants are attracted to the sugar and will eat it.

No. Some of the scouts will eat it but when they don't come back to report, the others won't touch it.

Yes unless you have small children or pets, you wouldn't want them to eat this. The ant will eat the acid and carry it back to its nest and then the rest of the colony will pick up the acid and become infected and die. If smell is a problem then this is a great alternative.
