They are legal to own in some locations in the U.S., but illegal in others. Check with local ordinances regarding pets. They quickly become dangerous as they grow.

Baby alligators aren't dangerous, but they become more dangerous when they grow up. Seeing as it is difficult to domisticate them, it probably isn't legal in most states.

In some some it is illegal to keep a baby alligator as a pet although they used to be sold in some pet stores around the united states. Check your state laws.

Owning a baby alligator is always a bad idea because they will always be a danger. Remember whether it is legal should not be the issue. The issue is that they will always GROW UP. They do not stay babies forever. The legality will depend on your state law.
