Is a tomato a fruit or a vegetable?

Scientifically tomatoes are considered a fruit. However in the world of cooking they are used as in salads and other dishes in the savory world of cooking.

i just learned the other day that the classification for the tomato was changed from vegetable to fruit. i think it has to do with the seeds. any thing with seeds is considered a fruit.

A tomato is a fruit basically because it has seeds. A tomato starts from a blossom, which then turns into the seed baring fruit.

A tomato is a fruit because it has seeds inside of it. Vegetables do not have seeds inside of them.
