Is a Jenn Air stove top really the best?

Depends on when you bought it. The older ones are the best but since the company was bought out, there have been many complaints on consumer report sites. Apparently, the electronic components break far too often and the company is loathe to do much about it. I would avoid Jenn Air.

I think it all depends on who you ask, the whirlpool gold seems to be a better line according to ratings and statistics on both these.

It depends upon when you bought it. If you have the older versions then you are lucky because they are the best among all. Newer versions have some complaints.
