Yes, a beetle bug is an animal. It is in the animal kingdom. It can move on its own making it an animal.

All insects are animals, regardless of type. Living things are divided into three categories--plants, animals and protists. Protists are basically fungi and mold. Thus, if it is not a plant or a fungi, then it is an animal.
