Self defense is all about DEFENDING and COUNTERING. Here are two examples: Someone punching you(jabs): Attempt to grab the wrist. At same time, punch the armpit. Someone punching you(hooks): Attempt to duck. Attack the stomach. While his/her head is down, lift up back leg for an additional blow to face.

Discipline is a key factor to self-defense. Always keep a calm mind and a steady hand. Constant studies and practice on pressure points will lead to an advantage. In self-defense you will hardly have any time to think.

From a US Marine I can tell you to practice a lot or they will be hard to hit. You should have a chart of their locations and memorize them. The side of the palm is best for this as long as you memorize where to hit.

The best way to strike a pressure point is to curl your hand up as if imitating a snakes head. What this does is it enables you to transfer all of the energy in a strike to one point.

First identify the obvious pressure points for example: windpipe, groin and nose. You should strike at a safe distance, don't try to go in closer. Use your hand or elbow.

Just s-i-n-g... using your elbow strike the solenoid, using your foot stomp on the instep, yo can use your elbow for the nose and groin.
