On the Home ribbon, go to the frame titled Font. The automatic font color may be changed by selecting the box that has the Capital A on it and a color selected. When you click on the down arrow immediately to the right of the A, you can select the color you want from the palette.

Click on the "Format" option from the toolbar. Click on "Cells", and then click on the "font" tab. Under that it will give you the option of changing colors. Make sure the appropriate cells are highlighted first. You do this by right click and dragging the mouse to cover the selected cells.

To change the default color that is automatically set when Excel 2007 is started, you have to change the system color. Use the view entry in the system control.
