A Koi fish is considered a garden pond fish. When purchased as babies they are fairly inexpensive and can be taught to eat from your hand. As far as their life span, Koi fish can live up to forty years, maybe even longer. But as with any living creature if you do not maintain the living space they will die.

Fresh water fish will live a long time in a garden pond. Fish should have non stop water circulation, lots of space and good water quality.
