In the globalized world in which we live, it is important for everyone to work toward being bilingual. For a politician who needs to reach out to non-English speaking constituents, bilingualism is every more important. An important question, however, is which second language to learn; that will depend on the makeup of a politician's particular constituents.

It depends upon where you are, but it certainly cannot hurt to be bilingual. Most nationally prominent politicians in America are not, however.
