Congestive heart failure doesn't directly necessarily have anything to do with your mental status. A clot could cause a stroke which could affect you, but more likely, clogging of your arteries and strain on your heart are going to be your major problems. These are serious problems and you should see a doctor.

If you have congestive heart failure and poor mental status, the latter may be either primary dementia or more likely is due to a decrease in the flow of blood to your brain and hence mental status. See a cardiologist who can help improve your heart function.

You have to be sure you don't get stressed out and stay as calm as possible. Any strain on your heart can cause damage.

The important thing is to keep a positive attitude and make sure to be following doctors orders when it comes to treatment of CHF.

Your heart failure should not have anything to do with your mental status. Go ahead and get your power of attorney, will, and arrangements done so that you and your family have no worries.

I don't think it would really affect your mental status but if it were me I would ask this question to my doctor as it maybe a concern for you.
