If you have a real bad knee problem, can you be discharged from the U.S. Navy?

If you already in the Navy, yes, a bad knee can lead to discharge. Normally, however, the Navy tries to fix the problem and holds onto you until they've exhausted their medical options. If your knee prevents you from performing your duties or is a long-term problem, the Navy has no choice but to medically discharge you.

All depends on how bad it actually is, your doctor's recommendation to the medical board, your field of work, and if the medical board feels you can continue on. You may be disqualified for some areas but still eligible for other jobs in the Navy.
