People with emphysema can live normal lives. The factors to consider are how much lung damage they have, have they quit smoking, what other health issues do they have, and are they receiving good heath care currently. Emphysema can aggrevate hearts conditions, which can shorten life.

There are many new medicines available for patients and these help make life a little more pleasant. It just depends on many things because each person is different. Months to years.
