If my blood work came back normal, is a cyst on a thyroid gland serious?

A cyst can develop anywhere anytime and usually a thyroid cyst isn't serious. These cysts can be made totally of fluid or fluid and some solid matter. Cancer can hide in these cysts so your doctor will probably do further testing.

They should do more then take blood work. A cyst on the thyroid gland could be serious. I would have them take a biopsy of the cyst to be sure that it isn't something serious. The thyroid gland is a vital organ that effects, weight, mood and many other important things.

That all depends on if the cyst needs a biopsy done on it now to make sure it does not have any pre cancerous cells in it. As far as being anything else only your doctor can answer that for you.

a cypt of any type should be checked out by your doctor. The normal blood work is not always the complete story
