Call the company that AFNI claims they're collecting for. If they have no idea what you're talking about and they say you dont owe them money then it is obviously a scam. Do not give AFNI any information about you.I would suggest having a conference call with them and whatever company they claim to be collecting for. Good luck.

I would contact the collection company and find out more information about the notice and where the collection is coming from. If there is an position to settle the debt then make sure you can get it in writing and never ever pay for anything over the phone with your debit card. Get a cashier check instead.

Make sure the information is all correct and it belongs to you. Then make contact with the collector and work out a repayment plan that you will be able to repay. After the debt has been satisfied make sure it is reported to the three major credit bureaus.

This largely depends on how much the debt is and the legitimacy. Generally speaking, you should not aknowledge the debt or make a payment immediately as this would be considered an aknowledgement. You should respond in writing and ask for a detailed explanation of the debt. Then go from there.

You should write a debt settlement offer letter to the debt collection agency to request a payment plan if there is an option available. After the company calls or resend another letter, you can begin making payments according to the schedule you promised in your debt settlement letter.

Contact them or the person you owe the debt to and pay it off is the best thing. Otherwise, contact an attorney if you can't pay it.

Review the notice and pay the bill if you know you owe the debt. If not, send a letter back to AFNI to inform them that you are disputing the validity of the debt. You can find a form letter online that fulfills legal requrements.

If you didn't cause this debt or you think that you have paid it off you should contact them and get it straightened out. If not, you are going to need to call them and make plans to start paying this off. You could also do a settlement, which is about half of the total debt in one lump payment.
