An IV will be placed in your arm, this will be slightly uncomfortable. If you are anxious you may receive medication to calm you down prior to the sedation. They will administer the sedative, ask you to count or do some other mundane task, you will fall asleep very quickly.

First ensure that it is indicated and that you have no allergies to the medications. The effects are variable between different individuals. In general, these include drowsiness, sleepiness, nausea and even brief amnesia during the procedure. Do not drive or drink after IV sedation.

If you are undergoing sedation for some surgery or for some other thing you should be perfectly alright after the dose that has been given to you is over. But you will feel sleepy and will be ok the next day.
