I want a sugar glider, but they live up to 15-20 years, should I get one as a pet?

They are easy to care for and with the correct diet there should be no problems. They're about the size of a baby gerbil, cute as a button. If you young I see no problem, but if your older think about it.

They are adorable creatures but they are nocturnal so if you want lots of interaction during the day look elsewhere for a pet.

My friend purchased a sugar glider last summer for his fiancee - it was the BIGGEST disaster! The animal slept during the day and was WIDE AWAKE at night. They had a cage for it, but when he was let out he would hide for hours. Awful pet!

I'd say, go ahead and get the sugar glider as soon as possible. Even though it lives up to 15 years, its a wonderful pet and please take good care of it.

If that is what you want as a pet sure go ahead and get one. If you get tired of it I am sure you can sell it or give it away.

You have to take into consideration the same thing you would if you were buying a parrot. Will you be able to take care of this animal for 15 years? Is there someone who will take him if you cant anymore?
