Question by  margherdy (1)

I have a hematoma following surgery. Will it resolve or will have to have another surgery?

It is a five-inch incision due to an ectopic pregnancy.

A hematoma is just a large collection of blood, and it is not uncommon after surgery. The body should absorb the hematoma over time. If this does not happen or if the hematoma is causing problems such as pressing on other organs or nerves then a surgical procedure may be required.

A hematoma is simply a blood clot under the skin. The body will just reabsorb it. No further surgery should be necessary for it in the area of the ectopic pregancy.
