If by "quilting foot" you mean "free-motion quilting foot": drop or cover your sewing machine's feed dogs, set your stitch length to zero and put your quilt into a hoop. Try to move the hoop slowly and smoothly. Free-motion quilting is great for curved and looping lines and stippling.

a quilting foot is an attachment to your sewing machine that takes the place of a regular walking foot. It helps compress the several layers of the quilt to make sure the stitches get through. It attaches the same as a regular walking foot.
