Creating an outline is always the best idea, it will help you organize your thoughts better and highlight the areas you find most important. You can also take out the areas that are the weasest, and save yourself a lot of time on rewrites.

Creating an outline always helps, though is not necessary unless demanded by your teacher or professor. I would start by doing some general research into the topics concerning cosmetology today--the modern obsession with beauty, the ethics of animal testing--and see if any of them spark your interest. Once you've narrowed down a topic you should be ready to begin.
