The first thing is to use Octane gas that is about 91 or above. Add a good brand of polyethylene fuel injection cleaner to your gas tank. Drive around between 2-4 hours. A highway seems to be the best. Top off your tank using another bottle of fuel injection additive. You might want to check all your hoses as well.

Some VW's (especially older ones) take to fuel injector cleaner very poorly. Many VW forum goers speak very highly of Sea Foam. Run a cycle of Sea Foam as directed on the can about 100 miles before an oil change. Then replace your oil and filter and fill your tank with fresh gas.

In most cases all you can do is run a bottle of quality fuel injector cleaner thought the system. Do this along with some quality high octane gas for better results. Follow the directions given by the cleaner manufacturer for best result. You might want to clean out the intake also.

Go to a Auto Parts store and buy a good fuel injector cleaner. The best product you can buy is Z Max fuel system cleaner. If this doesent work then pull off the fuel rail and the injectors and use compressed air and blow the injectors out.
