You'll want to demonstrate two things: that your program will attract an audience, and that that audience will be likely to buy products advertised during the commercials surrounding your program.

There is much competition in this area of writing. Many networks like to use writers that have a previous track record – someone they know and trust. There are classes online and at colleges that teach writing for television. There are also sites where you can network with other writers and professionals, as well as trade magazines.

To go about pitching a TV idea you should first think about the generation that you are trying to attract. You need to think of something that will draw in whatever generation you are trying to attract. Also, you should include graphics or examples for the others to lure them in.

This is very difficult. You need to know someone, and not just a secretary or underling. The networks spend millions of dollars on failed TV shows every year. Go to trade events to meet people, and subscribe to trade magazines. Learn everything you can about scriptwriting and storyboarding. Polish your pitch to perfection, and don't give up.

I would try to pitch your tv idea to producers in hollywood or with the execs at major network stations in order to get your idea off the ground. You can also try an independent TV channel and they could help you with your idea on a smaller budget.

Write a script. Once you've done that, try and get an agent, and then go to various television studios. Hopefully a pilot will be done, and go from there.

In order to pitch your tv idea you need to come out strong and organized with your ideas so that others see you as confident but be open for critisism.
