How should I go about leaving an abusive relationship?

It is easier said than done, but you should leave as soon as possible. I have expierience with this and it is best to just leave. I would leave when the person is not at home and go to some place that they won't be likely to find you. It's hard but best to just not look back.

Plan your departure. Set a date; determine how you are leaving; determine what you need and what you want to take with you. 'How' you leave will determine much of what you take. Use the plan and get out of the abusive relationship before you get seriously hurt or killed.

I think the first thing to leaving an abusive relationship is to completely leave and don't go back. An outside force is necessary to get the detachment you need. A counselor who specializes in abusive relationships is the best resource and any help to independence from the dependence will
