How should I deal with my mother in law who comes to visit but won't help out around the house?

Ask her to do specific things to help as your are working around the house. If she refuses, then send her off with her son while you do the work.

I would talk to her. If she refuses, you need to speak to your husband about having her stay in a hotel when she is in the area since you are not a maid.
