clothes

Question by  kheath727 (16)

How old should your teen be before you let them shop for themselves?

I'm not sure my daughter will make good clothing choices.

This is something that can vary widely from person to person. Personally, I was age twelve when I began shopping for my own clothes. The best way to go about this transition is to take your teen out and shop WITH them instead of FOR them. Allow them to show you things they like and make compromises on both ends.

15 or 16 seems reasonable. Or, if you are both at the store, ask her to show you the clothes before they are paid for. If you object to something, explain to her why you don't think it's appropriate. Simply saying 'no' just won't work anymore.

In my opinion, she should be at least fourteen years old.Do not worry about that.Girls grow up quickly and they have natural taste for clothes. What you need to do is to tell her how to select good quality ones and some bargain skills. As to style and color, she can make good choices.
