As a rule all dogs should be at least 8 weeks before leaving the litter. However, the breeder may be deworming and making sure the puppy is ready to leave the mother. Most puppies of any breed are born with some type of worms and it can take several treatments and several weeks to clear the worms up.

For socializing and weaning reasons, the puppies should be kept with the mother for at least 2 months, but preferably for 12 weeks. Your breeder is doing the right thing.

I'd say at least 12 to 16 weeks. If you take a puppy away from it's mother and litter mates too early then it can cause developmental problems and aggression issues which will be difficult to rectify later on in life.
