You should ideally get one every ten years, but sometimes you may be required to get one, such as if you work in a dangerous job or perhaps in a school. Also you need one if you are punctured/cut by any suspect item (rusty nail, pencil, knife, etc.).

You need to get your tetanus shot once every ten years, no matter what you do for a living. It is very important that you get this shot on time.
