I would recommend walking everyday for at least a half n hour. This alone won't keep you in shape. You must also consider diet, as well as doing cardio with more intensity, like running outside, or using the elliptical machine. Walking alone won't make you stay in shape. Cutting your fat intake will.

If you are walking for health (and not weight lose), you should walk briskly for 30 minutes a day, 3 to 5 days per week. It's important to walk quickly enough that your heart rate is elevated.

A few years back there was this big fuss about walking. They came up with about 10,000 steps per day. Try taking the stairs instead of the elevator or park a little bit farther away. The small things will help.

It really depends on how good of shape you want to be in, how good a shape you are in, your age, etc. , but a good distance would be 2-3 miles.

To stay in shape you need to burn as many calories as you take in. You will burn about 100 calories for each mile per hour. Walk 3 miles at 3 miles per hour you'll burn 300 calories in 3 hours.

A brisk walk of 30-45 minutes wouldn't hurt about 3 times a week. Some strength exercises aren't too bad either. It takes about 3 times exercising moderately to maintain your current fitness level. Less and you atrophy, more and you will begin to improve yourself.

If it is just a simple workout you are looking for, I suggest you walk at least one mile every day to maintain your level of fitness. If you do not want to workout I suggest buying a pedometer and following the protocols in the instructional manual. This usually means taking at least five-thousand steps per day.

They say that you should walk in good shoes. You should start out walking about 20 minutes per day. When you build up your fitness stamina you increase it to about 30 minutes a day. Later you can add a little more time. But I think they say about 30 to 45 minutes is what they say it good.
