there are many plantations are still working in south. Southern plantations,slave plantations, south carolina plantations are important. the number of plantations is around 6000.

It depends on what you mean exactly when talking about functioning. If you mean Functioning like they did during the civil war and before that, then no. There are still plantations that serve as great tourist attractions for history buffs. They also serve as historical landmarks, especially the really old ones that have been preserved for the public to see.
