"Block" is the approximation of distance measurement usign the distance between 2 block intersections in north-south direction. It equals to 0. 05 miles in NewYork. This value would vary if measured in perpendicular direction (i. e. east-west direction) and also would vary from city to city or country to country. There are 0. 1 miles in a block, and there are 10 blocks in one mile. New York is comprised of thousands of blocks. You can easily determine the distance now.
