A nursing kitten if in-taking the proper amount from the mother, takes in its daily amount needed. Though if a kitten is not getting the proper amount of food per day from the mother supplements may be needed to increase their calorie intake. Kittens need quite a few calories a day to sustain and gain weight to grow.

A nursing kitten requires around 40 calories per pound and weigh around one pound for every month old they are. By the time they're eating solids they require 50-60 calories.

Kittens need about 20 to 25 calories for every 100 pounds. This is prior to weaning. An example a 10 pound cat needs about 250 to 280 calories. Also lifestyle should be taken into consideration. An active cat may need more than one that remains indoor, less active lifestyle. Meow!

A nursing kitten requires around 40 calories per pound and weigh around one pound for every month old they are. Therefore an average kitten would get a little over 60 calories per pound. If its mother doesn't give enough calories to the kitten you will notice a stunt in growth .

Young nursing kittens get all their calories from their mother. Kittens don't start eating solid food until about 6 weeks old, so until then all their calories come from mom.

How much is the kitten eating? I would guess that the better question would be what is the caloric value of a nursing cat's milk and go from there.

It would certainly depend on how much the kitten is eating as well as how well the mother kitten is eating to fortify her milk. I would guess that the better question would be what is the caloric value of a nursing cat's milk and go from there.
