I think the standard rule for most makeup is to keep it for three months and then discard it and buy a new supply.

From the magazines and articles I have read, I would throw it out 6 - 10 months after initial use; depending on the actual use.

2 year should you keep your Powder eyeshado and 2 year should you keep your cream eye shadow 12-18 months.

The shelf-life of makeup is usually 6 months. Check the packaging for an expiration date or contact the manufacturer for an exact date.

I was told that the rule is to always get rid of beauty products after one year. With eye shadow I'd think that the year rule would be good!

If you keep it in the freezer between uses it will grow bacteria at a much slower rate. Also, if you use an applicator and otherwise keep it clean it will last longer. Eyes are very vulnerable to infection so if you think it might be contaminated, throw it out.
