How long is strep throat contagious?

I'm not sure when I can go back to work.

It depends on whether you are taking antibiotics. Assuming that you have been on them for at least 24 hours you can return to work without risking giving strep to someone else, although 48 hours would be better. By that time you should be feeling better anyway, if not the only place you should be is the doctor's office.

Go to your doctor and get a note. That way your work has legitimate proof. Its normally contagious for as long as you feel sick and a few days past.

Before treatment strep throat is contagious the entire time you have it. After taking antibiotics are taken it is contagious for 24 hours.

Strep is usually only contagious while you are running a fever. To be safe, wait until there are no signs of a fever before returning to work.
