The Democrats have been prominent since the beginning of our nation, starting as the Democratic-Republicans, opponents of the Federalists. The Republicans first had a major presidential candidate in 1856.

I asked each of them this question, and got three different answers so I think one of them is lying. Now there's a shocker. Nobody really knows as even history books can be debated and disproven with the right amount of spin-doctoring. One thing that can be assured, whoever is in power is making mistakes.
