Having a root canal done usually takes about an hour from start to finish. There may be other work involved based on what will happen to the tooth afterwards. If there's going to be a crown the Dentist may do some of the prep work at the same time.

When I had a root canal, it took about an hour. The amount of time will vary based on the location of the tooth in your mouth and how badly it is decayed. Molars take longer than front teeth. As for pain, I didn't feel any beyond the needle sticks for the anesthetic.

A root canal is generally a rather simple procedure. It shouldn't take more than an hour for it to be done.

A root canal can take anywhere from one 45-minute appointment to three 2-hour appointments. The variation in time depends on accessibility to the tooth, and how many roots there are.

The amount of time varies depending on which tooth it is (some teeth have more than one root), whether the root(s) are straight or curved, approx. 1 - 2 hours.

Root canals can be performed in one, two, or more appointments, depending on the condition of the tooth, the number of canals, and other factors. Each appointment can run from under one hour to two hours or more. Once your dentist has determined that root canal therapy is required, he or she can give you a better estimate.

If done by a specialist, a root canal on a front tooth should only take about 2 hours but a back tooth can take more because it has more roots.

A root canal takes as long as it wants but not as short as you want. If you want the job done right then you should not rush it. If you do rush it then you may have to get it taken care of again which will take up even more time.
