The gestation period depends on the breed of hamster. In general, its 16 - 21 days. Specifically, 16 to 18 days for Syrian hamsters 18 to 21 days for Dwarf hamsters 18 to 21 days for Russian hamsters 21 to 23 days for Chinese hamsters 23 to 30 for Roborovski Hamsters

Hamsters have a very short gestation period that varies depending on the breed for syrian hamsters, it takes about 16-18 days. For dwarf hamsters, it lasts between 18 and 21 days. Please consider going to a rescue and adopting some unwanted hamsters unless you have thought it through very carefully; can you really handle up to 18 babies?

The gestation period is 16 days after the date of successful mating. Handling the female is best kept to a minimum. It is good idea to remove the wheel and clean the cage before the litter is due. The female should be given plenty of suitable bedding, try not to disturb her in the two days before the expected birth.
