How likely is it for a judge to give conservator-ship to an individual that doesn't live in the same state as the conservatee?

I am trying to gain conservator ship over someone in a different state.

It depends very much on your suitability as conservator, your availability and means to travel, and on the potential of other candidates who may live closer.

Conservator-ship is more often based upon the degree of kinship of the individual. The preference for family relationships is legally over-ridden by a will or power of attorney if it is already in place. For example, if someone has a power of attorney name a long time friend to the role, this can override conservator-ship request by a sibling.
